The Holy Father’s Monthly Prayer Intention
By Carole | June 19, 2008
Prayer
That all Christians may cultivate a deep and personal friendship with Christ so to communicate the strength of his love to every person they meet.
Amen to that.
My good friend Father Jim Kubicki, SJ, is the director of the Apostleship of Prayer. The aims of the apostolate are simple–it invites people to dedicated themselves and their day, each day, to Jesus by making the Morning Offering Prayer. It also publishes two special prayer requests (intentions) of the Holy Father for each month–a general intention and what is called a mission intention.
Making a morning offering is not only a great way to begin the day, it can also be a good way of making sure you don’t miss out on any indulgences you might easily attain anyway. The particular morning offering that I usually make includes a line that says ‘I intend to gain every indulgence and merit I can, and to offer them together with myself to Mary Immaculate, that she may best apply them in the interests of your most sacred heart.’ The amazing thing about indulgences is that they are so easy to get. A plenary indulgence can be gained every day, for example, for reading Scripture for a half hour a day; or for a half hour’s Eucharistic adoration; or for praying the rosary.
It’s cool to be Catholic.

Thanks for the link with all of the different morning offerings. We’ve been working on saying one here, both for me and for the kids and this is a great resource.
