Responsorial Psalm for July 6
By Fr. Dennis | July 2, 2003
I’ve been working creating a responsorial psalm for this Sunday. The text is from Psalm 123:1-4, and I’m not aware of any good setting for that Psalm.
Also, my dad will be at mass at OLS for the first time since this is the first time he will be visiting me on a Sunday. He’s coming to go to a wedding of some family friends that happens to be in Birmingham, and he is also picking up my dining room table since he and Mom would like to have it.
So I wanted to cantor the psalm this week (very prideful of me, I know), and not liking any of the settings, I decided to write one. I didn’t write the text, of course. I only wrote the melody for the refrain. The verses are from a psalm tone from the Archabbey of St. Meinrad.
