I Don’t Think the Great Saints Have Paris and Nicole in Mind When They Write About a Life of Simplicity

By Fr. Dennis | January 29, 2005

Photo from whoever runs this website: http://img.mysan.de/mystars/paris_richie.jpgGot this email from my dad earlier this afternoon:

Today at 300pm Dawn [my sister-in-law --ed.] is being interviewed at her/their house for a reality TV show that has two rich and famous women doing common stuff/jobs. The producers are interviewing a couple of Nashville ‘wedding planners’ to select one to do a wedding planning interview on tv and then have these two stars work for her in the doing of a wedding and receptions, etc. What show is this?

My immediate reaction is “Eww!” followed by “Don’t let Paris and Nicole anywhere near my nephew.”

Of course, if the producers pick her, the promotion could be good for my sister-in-law’s fledgling wedding planning business. Then again, it could ruin it. I’m just not sure Paris and Nicole know how to behave competently. Real people with real weddings don’t necessarily want some superstar coming in and stealing the attention. Have you ever met a bride that appreciated a wedding guest getting more than her fair share of attention?

I suspect the Blessed Mother would qualify. But she’d be the only one and wouldn’t have anything to do with this circus.
