New Christians — Sunday, 13 January 2008
By Fr. Dennis | January 16, 2008
This past Sunday, I did my first baptism as an ordained minister. The two new Christians are my brother David’s children, Luke and AnnaClaire. I know baptizing baby-dolls, as we did in the practicum course here at seminary, is easy. And I suspect baptizing newborns and adults is also fairly simple. But baptizing toddlers is a little tricky.

I think the baptism went well…considering the subjects were a little more than docile waiting for ‘whatever’ to happen. I think they were ready for their walk with Jesus to begin. Hey you Guys, and Hey Y’all - - I get to meet Dawn this weekend in DC. I am actually rather excited… I sorta feel like I’ve known Dawn for years. Uncle Jim, it is now my turn to meet her, and, she gets to meet Uncle Jim’s older brother. Dawn - I’ll see ya Sunday. jackS

She is expecting you… Dennis, DawnEden and I attended Mass together in DC this past Sunday and then had a nice lunch. Thoroughly enjoyed both of them. I had to then return to Baltimore and head home to Memphis. YoOldBro-jackS

Seeing those pictures was very moving.
I laugh every time I think of your “No more heathens” comment after Gray and Greer’s baptism.
I was in a class where my Baptist professor was demonstrating baptism by immersion. He lay the dummy back and then down in the water and said, “Now, ya just make sure that ever’ part of them gits wet. And if they’re real ornery, just hold ‘em under ’til they REALLY repent.”
