Progressive-Allusive Poetry Game

By Fr. Dennis | April 30, 2008

Sally over at Fine Old Famly has started an interesting game on her blog. Go over and join in.

The rules: come up with a line to follow this one. It must be a line from a poem already in existence (no composing in this game). The line may RHYME with this one or not — so you’ll either be setting up couplets, quatrains, or some other more complex rhyme scheme. It would be nice if the meter made sense, too, but we won’t be too picky, because we want people to play!

The poem so far:

Busy old fool, unruly sun
Of cloudless climes and starry skies
Did round this globe their courses run
O Love divine, my spirit sighs!

The yellow wrinkles in its sides
I saw no heaven–but in her eyes.
We know not where the secret tides
