Faith and Understanding

One of the many (many many) “Congratulations on your ordination to the priesthood” cards I received this weekend has this lovely quote from Saint Augustine:

Understanding is the reward of faith. Therefore, seek not to understand that thou mayest believe, but believe that thou mayest understand.
