So THAT’S Where She Learned to Hit Like That!

By Fr. Dennis | July 24, 2008

I was just doing a little Googling, and it turns out that the nun who struck me across the face in high school for no particularly good reason — honest to goodness, there was no cause for it, I’m not exaggerating — it turns out she was friends with young Cassius Clay, better known as Muhamed Ali, the Champion of the World.

Check it out.

Float like a butterfly, smack like a nun…

I think you must have had some hidden faults she was trying to help you overcome

I remember that event. Your Dad and I were not happy. As the news traveled around school that day, that Schenkel had been slapped by Sr Imogene, everyone thought it was David, certainly not you.

Maybe she took a few lessons from Ali, and practiced on poor unsespecting students like you.

I’m still not happy about that incident.

    C. S. Lewis said that when he was young, people were always tell him to get that look off of his face, and he never knew what look they were talking about. So, maybe you had that look.

I do not remember this happening… but I’m sure it was Kathy Shaw’s fault! She probably heard ya’ll imitating her and just hit the closest person… or the one least likely to hit back!
I’m sure I was skipping Mrs. Necaise’s art class when this happened…
