40 Days for Life
By Fr. Dennis | September 23, 2008
Tonight, in 170 cities across the North America, including my city of Memphis, the “40 Days for Life” prayer vigil begins. Volunteers will be keeping peaceful, prayerful vigil in front of the Planned Parenthood at 1407 Union Avenue, 24 hours a day, for 40 days, ending on November 2 (All Souls Day for us Catholics). The vigil will include people from all over the city, across all denominational and religious boundaries.
It starts tonight with a kick-off rally at Sacred Heart Church, with a procession up Cleveland Ave to Union. Come tonight at 6:30. Bring a candle.
Go to 40daysforlife.com/memphis to sign up and volunteer to take an hour or two of vigil. And make a commitment to fast and pray during these 40 days!

I took part in the 40 Days campaign here in Tulsa. I pulled the 4 a.m. to 5 a.m. shift for my parish.
What made it more interesting is that the diocese owns a vacant lot directly across the street from the abortion clinic, so we were able to pitch a tent whilst we vigiled round-the-clock.
